A Brewer man is facing arson and domestic violence charges after a house fire on Greenwood Avenue on Saturday.

Who was Arrested?

Dustin Gagnon, 20, of Brewer is facing charges from both the Brewer Police and the State Fire Marshal's Office in connection with the house fire.

How Bad Was the Fire?

Brewer Fire Department crews responded to a house fire on Greenwood Avenue just after 11:00 Saturday morning. Initially, responders saw no evidence of a fire but, upon further investigation, discovered smoke inside the house. Mutual aid was brought in to help extinguish the blaze that was confined to the kitchen area and did not extend further into the residence.

No one was hurt in the fire. Investigators with the State Fire Marshal's Office determined the cause of the fire was suspicious in nature.

What Charges Does He Face?

Brewer Police say interviews with witnesses revealed a history of underlying domestic violence issues at the residence. As a result, Gagnon was arrested for allegedly setting the fire. He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where he was charged with domestic violence terrorizing and aggravated reckless conduct. The State Fire Marshal's Office has also charged him with arson.
