The owner of a plant store in Lewiston is facing drug charges after police seized cocaine from his business.

Lewiston Police Were Investigating a Business Owner for Several Months

Sami-Luqman Muhammad, 38, of Lewiston, is charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs (cocaine).

Muhammad has been the target of an investigation for the past three months and was taken into custody during a traffic stop after agents saw him leave his residence. He was taken to the Androscoggin Jail, where bail was set at $20,000 cash.

Local and Federal Agents Searched the Lewiston Home and Plant Shop for Drugs

On Monday, April 14, 2025, Maine Drug Enforcement agents executed two search warrants at Muhammad's home, 52 Webster Street, in Lewiston, and at his business, 260 Lisbon Street, in Lewiston.

Muhammad owns a plant store called The Garden of Via, on Lisbon Street in Lewiston. Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says several undercover purchases of cocaine took place at the business, and those purchases were allegedly from Muhammad.

Seized in that search were:

  • Approximately 150 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine
  • 545 MDMA (Ecstasy)
  • $2,600 in suspected drug proceeds

Officials say the drugs were allegedly located at Muhammad's business while the cash and other evidence of alleged drug trafficking were found in his home.

Additional charges are expected in this case.
