An employee of Dayton Sand and Gravel has died as a result of an industrial accident.

The Maine Man Died at His Workplace in Dayton

Cory Maddox, 43, of East Waterboro died Monday after a freak accident at his workplace.

Maine Police Say the Man Was Hit By a Front End Loader

Just after noon Monday State Police Troopers responded to an accident at Dayton Sand and Gravel. When they arrived, they learned that Maddox had been walking across the yard when he was hit by the bucket of a front-end loader operated by another worker. Rescue workers tried to resuscitate the 43-year-old, but they were unsuccessful.

OSHA is Investigating the Fatal Accident at Dayton Sand and Gravel

This incident is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) but police say there's no indication of any criminal activity. Dayton Sand and Gravel is located in Dayton, Maine, which is in York County.
