Maine Election 2025 City Council Races
In other races, Bangor has three new City Councilors. Susan Faloon, Daniel Carson, and Angela Walker were elected.
Ellsworth voters also chose three new City Councilors, Patrick Shea, Carol Patterson-Martineau, and Marinna Smith. With less than 100 votes between each of the top 5 candidates, recounts are expected.
Maine Election 2025 Voter Turnout Better Than Expected
Secretary of State Shenna Bellows says voter turnout exceeded what she expected, with residents turning out at the polls in large numbers. She told WGME-TV that hotly contested local races for city council and school board seats, as well as two highly debated referendum questions prompted Mainers to vote.
A student mock election held statewide last month had similar election results. The students also said no to Question 1, by a margin of 65%, while they approved Question 2 by a margin of 79%.
