I'm going to sound like an old person for a minute by saying that I worry about kids these days. So much of their entertainment is screen-based, from video games, to phones, to televisions.

While a certain amount of screen time is fun, kids should also (in my opinion) get outside and enjoy everything Maine has to offer. We live in Vacationland, and that's not something you can experience in front of a computer.

There are a lot of ways to connect with family, have fun while learning, and explore the parts of Maine you don't typically get to see. When was the last time you went to Fort Knox or attended one of Maine's unique festivals. Whoopie pies? Moxie? Lobster? Pick your favorite.

Children will remember the experiences from their summer vacation a lot more than what they watched on TV. I have wonderful memories of camping with my family, going to state fairs, and eating at interesting restaurants.
