A Maine man is facing multiple charges for allegedly firing a rifle near residential homes in Belgrade.

William Bamford, 41, of Bath, was arrested just after 5 p.m. on Saturday, after police received multiple reports of a man yelling and firing a rifle close to homes in the neighborhood of Chandler and Point Roads. There's no word on why Bamford was allegedly firing the gun.
Maine Man Faces Multiple Charges for Allegedly Firing a Rifle Near Homes
When Maine State Police Troopers arrived, they took Bamford into custody. He's now facing the following charges:
- Reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon
- Aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs
- Theft by unauthorized taking
- Discharging a firearm near a dwelling
- Violating a condition of release
Bamford was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.
Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says there have been no reports of property damage or injuries.
Officials say it took a coordinated effort between multiple agencies to resolve the situation while also keeping the public safe.
