Maine Warden Service divers have recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy from Hallowell Quarry.

Maine Teen Who Drowned in Hallowell Quarry Was Swimming With Friends

Officials have only identified the youth as a 15-year-old boy from Farmington. Officials say he was swimming with three other friends about his age at the Quarry Wednesday afternoon when he apparently drowned.

Multiple Maine Agencies Were Able to Reach the Boy in Hallowell Quarry

It was around 1:30 when the Maine Warden Service and Hallowell Police Department received a 911 call that the boy had jumped off one of the ledges and landed awkwardly in the water. He reportedly struggled to swim before he slipped beneath the water and never surfaced.

Several agencies responded to the call and tried to reach the boy, using an underwater drone, boats, and free-driving, but none were able to reach him.

Maine Warden Service Divers Recovered the Teen's Body from Hallowell Quarry

Just after 5:30 in the evening, a Maine Warden Service diver was finally able to recover the body in approximately 25 feet of water. He was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who will determine his cause of death.
