An Investigation Into a Lincoln County Suspect Led to the Charges in Rumford

Willey was arrested while living in Waldoboro and charged by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office with domestic violence strangulation, and gross sexual assault of a child under 12. He was then released on bail, pending his trial.

When the Rumford Police Department learned that the suspect lived in their community in 2022 and 2023, they launched an investigation into whether he may have sexually assaulted the same victim during that time. That investigation turned up evidence that led to Willey's arrest this week. The suspect was working in Lewiston, so Rumford and Lewiston Police worked together to take Williey into custody.
