What You Need To Know About Maine’s New Registration Stickers
If you're like me, you love the convenience of being able to renew your car registration online through Maine's "Rapid Renewal." No waiting in line at the BMV, and your new registration and stickers are mailed to you.
However, you might notice a few changes the next time you register your vehicle online.
Your Registration Will Be Printed Differently
Neither of these changes is earth-shattering. They just may take you by surprise because it's not what you're used to.
When you receive your new registration, you'll notice it is printed on white paper rather than the traditional yellow. Like I said, not earth-shattering.
New Stickers
Along with your registration, you'll get two sets of stickers. One for the date and one for the year. I'm still not sure what the duck means on the stickers, but let's just roll with it.

Up until 1987, there was only one sticker on each plate that had both the month and year displays on it. I'm not quite sure why the state did away with that.
This is where it gets a little weird. If you get the new Pine Tree or classic standard license plates, put both sets of stickers on your plates. However, if your plate is any of the dozen or so specialty plates, you may get stickers that are blank or say VOID. Toss them in the trash because you don't need them.
Confusing? Yeah. A little. At least now you know what to expect when you register your car with Rapid Renewal.
