When The Late Great Ace Frehley Rocked Maine: Complete History of His Performances
We sadly said goodbye once again to a fallen rock icon.
Ace Frehley has passed away. The legendary guitarist died last week due to complications from a recent fall. He was 74 years old.
Ace Frehley Had an Incredible Career and Life
Born Paul Daniel Frehley in 1951, he became an absolute rock god as the original guitarist for the band KISS. He left the band in 1982 and found success as a solo artist before a second run with KISS in the late 1990s.
Whether it was with KISS or as a solo act, "The Spaceman" was a huge draw — and deservingly so. He was a tremendous musician, underrated as a writer, and a massive inspiration to the generations who followed him. It's always tough to lose our heroes, especially those with legendary status.
Recently, Frehley had once again been touring as a solo artist, including a show at Aura in Portland back in February of this year. Sadly, he had canceled the rest of his fall tour due to the accident that ultimately led to his death.

That show served as a reminder to Maine KISS and Frehley fans that he spent a lot of time in the Pine Tree State. Whether with KISS or solo, Frehley entertained Mainers with tremendous showmanship and musicianship. I'm sure everyone who saw him here in Maine has a story — or ten — to share about those experiences.
