How Much Beer Did Maine Drink in 2024? Here is the Answer
2024 was a pretty big year for beer lovers here in the great state of Maine.
Whether it was craft, domestic, or imports, Mainers definitely did their part to keep the beer industry rolling. And based on the latest numbers, it looks like we more than held our own.
How Much Beer does Maine Drink a Year?
Mainers drank a ton of brewdogs last year. How much, you ask? According to the latest data from USA Today, the average Mainer consumed over 34 gallons of beer in 2024. That’s a 2% increase from the year before and enough to rank Maine as the 10th highest state for beer consumption.
Congratulations?
That's a ton of suds. It basically means the average Mainer drank nearly six pints a week. That's a solid number, and considering many Mainers don't drink, some of those weekly averages must be pretty alarming for certain individuals. Like, there's definitely a few dudes out there who are taking down numbers we can't even perceive.
What State Drank the Most Beer Last Year?
As impressive (?) as that is, it's nothing compared to our brethren across the border in New Hampshire. The Granite Staters actually came in first for beer consumption, with an average of 43.9 gallons per year. Apparently, their new motto is: "Live Free, Drink a Ton, or Die."
Vermont also finished ahead of Maine, ranking 7th overall. The Green Mountain folks averaged a respectable 35.3 gallons of beer per year.
As for the driest state? I'll give you one guess. Yep, it's Utah, with an average of just 20.2 gallons. Lowly or healthy, depending on your perspective.
