It's beginning to look a lot like summer in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Seasonal restaurants and shops have opened up. Campgrounds and motels have their vacancy signs lit and crowds have started to enjoy weekends in the beach town.

One of the standards of Old Orchard Beach is Palace Playland. New England's only beachfront amusement park has continued to be an entertainment option for both kids and adults, offering a variety of games, an sprawling arcade as well as thrilling rides.

Over the past several years, Palace Playland has been updating their amusement park with new offerings and it appears they're ready to bring a couple additional rides to the park in 2025 and a new coaster planned for beyond.

Palace Playland Debuts New Wind Surfer Ride for 2025

If you're going to be located next to the beach, why not have a Wind Surfer thrill ride? Palace Playland explains it as a glider ride that will lift you 30 feet into the air as you reach for the clouds and enjoy the scenery.

According to Wisdom Rides of America, the original Wind Surfer ride is a modernized take on the classic amusement Flying Scooter ride that was featured at most fairs.

Palace Playland is Being Secretive About Another New Ride

While details for the Wind Surfer ride were available, there's another new ride listed by Palace Playland that seems to be shrouded in more mystery. That would be the Nitro Speed.

According to Coaster Chit Chat, Nitro Speed will be the most intense ride Palace Playland has added in quite some time. Nitro Speed will be the first breakdance-style ride featured at the park in nearly two decades. It's arrival and debut is expected this summer.

Palace Playland Will Add a New Family Coaster in 2026

Visitors to Palace Playland will notice a ride has left the park. That would be Orient Express, a family-friendly coaster that finished its run at the park last season.

Coaster Chit Chat believes it will be replaced by a speedy coaster with a mining theme. Pieces of a ride called Matterhorn Mining Company have already shown up at Palace Playland but construction of the ride likely won't commence until next season.

Matterhorn would be a family-friendly coaster with a little more zip than Orient Express.
