Jackson Robbery Suspects Arrested
Three men are facing charges in connection with a robbery and assault this week in Jackson.
Officials say the Waldo County Communications Center got a report shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday of someone who said they'd been the victim of a robbery. The victim claimed it had happened on the Bog Road in the town of Jackson.
Investigators determined that the victim, a 27-year-old man, had been invited to a home on the Bog Road by a former girlfriend. When he got there, he was approached by three men identified as 25-year-old Joseph Bella of Auburn, 22-year-old Charles Haskins of Jackson, and 21-year-old Samuel Lear of Jackson.
The Waldo County Sheriff's office says that, during the confrontation, one of the men displayed a knife while another pulled out a handgun. The men allegedly demanded that the victim turn over his wallet and empty his pockets, which he did before being physically assaulted by the suspects. A witness was also allegedly told that he would also be assaulted if he contacted police.
As a result of this investigation, Bella, Haskins, and Lear have all been charged with robbery, assault, and criminal threatening. Bail was set at $5,000 cash on each individual and, at last report, all three remained in custody.
