The KahBang music, film, and arts festival is moving to Portland this year. Most of the events are still happening but one had to be canceled.

Organizers for KahBang say they didn't want to move this year's festival to Portland. It's always been a Bangor-based event and they had intended on keeping it that way. But sometimes you just have to make concessions.

In past years, festival-goers were allowed to camp on a piece of property on outer Hammond Street. Over the past couple years the site has become more and more waterlogged, and this year, the owner denied them access. So, when organizers couldn't find another place to put the campers, and found a lack of affordable housing for the festival's young crowd, the decision was made to move it south.

Most of the events will take place at the State Theatre, Port City Music Hall, and Longfellow Square. Camping this year will be at a campground in Scarborough and shuttle buses will run festival-goers back and forth to Portland.

The KahBang Brewfest has been canceled this year because organizers couldn't find a suitable place to hold it, on such short notice. Ticketholders for the Brewfest should contact the Festival office in Bangor to have their passes upgraded.
