When was the last time the company you work for gave you a 5% bonus?

For 5,300 employees at L.L. Bean, Maine's most popular business, that happened recently!  Company officials said that the bonus would be between $1500 to $2000 for the average full-time employee!

Sales for L.L.Bean grew 3% last year.  Sales were so good that now L.L.Bean plans to triple the amount of their domestic retail stores over the next five years!

The Boston Globe reported that L.L. Bean sold more than 450 thousand pairs of it's most popular item, the traditional rubber toed boot this past Christmas.  Some are still on back order!  Bean has actually purchased a second boot machine to keep up with demand, and that machine will be in operation by this May.

Not everything rosey red though - with internet sales skyrocketing, the demand for call center employees is decreasing.  The L.L. Bean call center here in Bangor will be closing sometime next year putting most employees out of work.
