You can Actually Bid on Maine Cemetery Plots Right Now on eBay
My grandfather actually pre-paid for his own funeral.
I was actually just telling a coworker about this. He did it a solid five years before he passed, and honestly, it was the best thing that ever happened to our family. It was so awesome to not have to worry about any of that stuff. It basically all took care of itself. He and my grandmother had picked out plots years before.

These days, everything is more expensive. There's no way around that. So everyone is always looking for the sweet deals on whatever they can get their hands on. With funeral/burial costs skyrocketing all the time, some prep work ahead is a great idea. But have you ever considered eBay as an option for sweet deals on the afterlife?
There are actual cemetery plots from Maine on eBay right now.
Yup. If you live in the Lewiston/Auburn area, or have a burning desire to spend eternity there, you can bid or buy on a couple of different options at Gracelawn Memorial Park. There's an auction for two plots for $500 or best offer, or a four plot group for $750. A quick search says that around Maine, the average price for a plots is upwards of $300.
However, I really have to chuckle at the listing for two plots, as they actually include a price for shipping. Like, uh... what? Are you going to ship me my plot? You can send me a hole in the ground that I can use somewhere else? Sweet! Or I suppose it could be $5 to go towards mailing you the paperwork.
Maine is going crazy with new burial ideas.
Maine, in general, has been leading the effort to offer all sorts of "greener" methods of dealing with your former self. Maine has legalized things like shallow burials with no processing, and even the chance to have your body composted after you die. And it seems money-wise, it's all about the same price.
