Has Maine Finally Entered the Period of ‘Perfect’ Sleeping Weather?
Sleeping in July is for the birds.
How many times this summer, did you happen to walk outside at like 4:00 or 5:00am in July, just to discover it was already over-the-top gross outside. Of course, this always happens after a night of tossing and turning because of the heat. It seems like even if you have an AC unit, it doesn't quite cut it.

I feel like all summer, I wait for the last few days of August into September. Because then, we enter the most glorious time of year for sleeping. It's the time of year when it's cold enough outside at night, that if you leave the windows open and let fresh air in, you just want to bring the covers up around your chin and drift off to na-na land. Am I right?!
Is there an actual ideal sleeping temperature?
Sort of... "Science" will tell you that ideally, people sleep best in a room that's between 60 and 65 degrees. That's much harder to maintain at other times of the year. There's a good chance in the Spring, you may not be ready to have the window open all night. And in the summer, we all know what happens there. But even winter can be tough.
If a room is too hot, that promotes insomnia. If a room is too cold, you won't sleep well either. So it's all about the sweet spot. Right now, day temps aren't too bad, and night temps are getting down into the 50's pretty regularly. That trend will continue for the next several weeks, too.

Granted, sleeping temperature is always a personal preference, but it does seem plausible that this time of year provides the perfect blend of not-too-warm days and delightfully cool nights. And we only have a little over a month to enjoy it. Then we're gonna shut the windows and crank up the heat. And... get less sleep.
