Does Maine Really Hate Video Games? Here’s What The Study Says
I was every parent's worst nightmare...
But every arcade owner's dream. Like most children of the 80's, I adored video games. Let's face it, there was no internet yet. At least not as we know it. And it's not like we were into them for the super cool graphics or story lines. The closest thing I had to a story line for a video game as a kid, was dying from dysentery in Oregon Trail.

But man... I loved it. I had an Atari and a ton of games. These days, video games are almost more like interactive movies. The plot never seems to end, but you're always in the "environment" of the game. And for me, they're so realistic now, that it doesn't even seem like an escape. It's just another dystopian nightmare. We already see that everyday on the news. No thanks...
Maybe that's the problem in this new study.
According to a new study, published by CSDB.gg, Mainers don't spend money on video game equipment/gear, like the national average does. We're way below. In fact, the average gamer in Maine, only spends about $22 a month on gaming stuff. And that's per 100 people. We're not spending crap on games.
Although overall, while we're right up there on that list, Vermont spends even less than we do, coming in at #1. I'm not going to totally imply that Vermont isn't a very fun state, but they seem all too practical to be spending a bunch of dough on game stuff. But again, maybe we're just all done with them. There are certainly states spending big bucks on video game stuff. And that's just fine. But around here, I think we have our usual pragmatic way of doing things. And apparently, that doesn't seem to involve wanting to spend money on trying to escape through gaming. We have all our craft breweries and cannabis dispensaries for that...
