A plane carrying two agents from Customs and Border Protection went down near the Pittsfield/Burnham town line late Wednesday evening.

WABI-TV reports the plane went down in Burnham just after 11:00 Wednesday night. The pilot and co-pilot, who are both from New York state, were hurt in the crash. The pilot suffered a serious eye injury while the co-pilot's injuries were minor.

Officials say the engine malfunctioned at 8,000 feet and crashed just south of the airport. The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.
