A Robbinston man faces arson and murder charges after allegedly setting a fire that killed another man in his home.

Charles “Chip” Townsend, 32, was arrested on charges of arson and depraved indifference murder. He taken to Washington County Jail.

Police say Townsend set fire to the home of Wayne Morrill, 66, on the Ridge Road in Robbinston on Oct. 7.

Morrill was found inside the home.

The state medical examiner ruled Morrill died from smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.
