Last-minute shopping and your holiday travel may have to get put on hold.

According to WMTW, a winter storm is expected to start this afternoon. Several inches of snow are predicted before it changes to freezing rain overnight Friday into Saturday.

So get your shovels ready and your ice skates sharpened, because it's going to get messy out there.

Some parts of Maine could get up to 8 inches of snow, while places like Portland are expected to get up to 6 inches.

But hey, this is Maine, and those "couple of inches" could always turn into something much more.

If anything, it'll be a snowy holiday weekend, and the news station even expects another storm for Christmas Eve or day.

So get ready, stay safe and warm, and prepare for some classic Maine weather!
