We've got some snow, but many trails aren't officially open.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is cautioning snowmobilers eager to hit the trails. Many trails are still being prepped for the season. Snowmobile clubs and volunteers are still working to clear trails of debris left in the wake of October's windstorm.

Many clubs need volunteers to help open the trails. Ask to your local club if they need help!

MDIFW also suggests folks talk with their local club about trail conditions before venturing out.

Remember, 95% of Maine's snowmobile trails are on private land. Stay on marked trails.
