Leaf peepers flocked to Maine this weekend.

Tourism officials and lodging owners are saying this holiday weekend brought lots of folks to Maine. They site peak foliage conditions and great weather for the success. This makes it the second busiest tourism weekend of the year. Labor Day weekend showed stronger numbers, up slightly from the previous year.

The York toll plaza saw 50,000 vehicles pass through Friday and Saturday during peak travel times.

Bar Harbor businesses saw good business from leaf peepers even though Acadia National Park was closed. Camden Hills State park saw a huge boom as they were open for leaf peeping. The park estimates about 2000 visitors visited the park.
