Two men face charges after state police resolve a standoff peacefully in the Washington County town of Harrington.

The incident started yesterday afternoon when state police were called to the Robinson home and shutdown a portion of Route 1.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says 60 year old Elliot Robinson, and his 78 year old father Vernon Robinson, didn't want Mrs. Robinson removed from the home for the purpose of medical treatment.

McCausland says 84 year old Elva Robinson is under adult protective custody of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services for treatment of long term illness and Elliot Robinson allegedly threatened violence if state officials attempted to remove her from the home.

McCausland says the standoff required response from the tactical team and negotiators who managed to get the two men to surrender without incident. They've been charged with criminal restraint.

Mrs. Robinson was removed and transported to the hospital in Machias after the standoff ended a little after 6pm.
