Anyone who went to school at the University of Maine's flagship campus knows that there's not much to fear in little old Orono.

A Sept. 7, 2016 study from Safewise, a Salt Lake City-based home security company, found Orono be among the 30 safest college towns in the country based on the most recent FBI crime statistics from 2014. In its study, Safewise editors had this to say about Orono.

From the quaint downtown business district to the 4,200-foot-long bog boardwalk, this friendly college city is full of small-town charm and extraordinary natural treasures.

When all the numbers were crunched, Orono was named the fourteenth safest college town. The safest? Winona, Minn., home of Winona State University. Boy, that does sound pretty safe.

Anyways, a few other New England towns made the list. You can check out the full report here.
