Old school sleds will be the talk of the town Saturday in Dover-Foxcroft.

I remember my first snowmobile, it was a 1976 Polaris Colt 250. It was a fast machine, however it was a heavy son-of-a-gun. Vintage sleds will be front and center Saturday at the Piscataquis Valley fairgrounds.

Vintage snow sleds will zoom around the half mile track, that will be professionally groomed by the Cold Smoke Riders Snowmobile Club of Atkinson. $1,300 in prize money is on the line for competitors.

Classes include:

  • Leaf-sprung single-cylinder
  • 1973 and older single-cylinder stock
  • 1973 and older single-cylinder modified
  • 1973 and older twin-cylinder
  • Pre-1980 440cc or under
  • Any year production leaf-sprung, single-cylinder
  • Powder puff

Admission is $8 for adults and free for children. Competitors pay $15 or $12 if you ride your snowmobile in off ITS 85. Gates open at 8AM, with a drivers’ meeting at 9:30AM. Races will begin at 10:30AM.

For more info call Bishop at 564-7700, or Billy Smart at 564-7712.
