Four people are facing charges for allegedly trafficking in heroin in Washington County.

Maine Drug Enforcement officials say the arrests were the result of a six-month investigation, involving the Downeast District Task Force. During the investigation, agents were able to make undercover purchases of heroin from several residences in the county and in Indian Township.

Tuesday afternoon, drug agents searched a home at 6 Alder Lane in Indian Township, where they arrested 32-year-old Ashley Doten, 27-year-old Ralph Francis, both of Indian Township, and 35-year-old Marcus Horry of West Virginia. Seized in that search were approximately 7 grams of heroin, $8,000 in suspected drug proceeds, and other evidence of drug trafficking. A fourth suspect, 29-year-old Raymond Neptune of Indian Township, was located at another residence and arrested without incident. All four were charged with unlawful trafficking in heroin and were taken to the Washington County Jail.

Assisting drug agents were the Indian Township Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Border Patrol. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
