Doing his part to help entertain all the kids who are stuck at home, Sheriff Troy Morton takes a few minutes to read a children's book.

Reading to children is one of my favorite things to do. I think fostering a love for reading is so important to start from a young age. And, honestly, I just enjoy laughing with them. There are no small kids in my home anymore, but I know if there were, we'd be reading everyday to help pass the time. Sometimes, however, it's fun to have someone else read to them, other than Mom.

I was so pleased to receive this video in my email this morning. Thanks to Sheriff Morton, of the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, for sharing it with me since I'd missed the fact that it's also posted on the department's Facebook page. I want to commend him on a great choice of literature. The movie 'Cars' is one of my kiddie favorites. I love Lightning McQueen and especially Mater.

Take a few minutes with your children and listen as Sheriff Morton reads about friends.
