Hey dog lovers, here's a reminder for you:  Dogs need to be re-licensed before by January 31, 2016.  And just like everything else now, you don't even have to leave your office to do it.

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry's Animal Welfare Program offers an online service for you to pull it off!  Over one hundred and ten local municipalities here in Maine are part of the service that gives you the opportunity to purchase new licenses and file renewals online.

Folks will need to supply their dog's veterinarian and vaccination information, and if they're renewing a license the dog's tag numbers.

Here in Maine, funds from licensing dogs are used for:

  • Investigation of animal cruelty complaints and enforcement of animal welfare laws
  • Compliance with rabies vaccination of dogs
  • Care for sick and injured stray animals
  • Return of lost dogs to their owners
