A Surry Firefighter Passes

We were very sad to learn of the passing of a very popular firefighter from the town of Surry.  Richard “Dickie” Mulhern passed away on Sunday after a brief battle with cancer. He was 62.

Mulhern was an active member of the Surry Volunteer Fire Department for many years, he served with the Ellsworth Fire Department before that.

Members of both departments expressed their fondness of Mulhern and his dedication to those communities that he served.

We thank Mr. Mulhern for his countless hours of community service.

A celebration of life will take place at 1pm on Sunday, October 26th, at the Ellsworth Elks Lodge.  Donations can be made to the Surry Fire Department.
