It's the highlight the 9th Annual Acadia Night Sky Festival, a trip to the summit with certified astronomers to view the heavens above! 

The Star Party on the summit of Acadia National Park's Cadillac Mountain will take place the night of Saturday, September 23rd, between 8 and 11PM.

Up to fifty astronomers will be available to discuss and guide you through the constellations.  Dress warmly, and bring your binoculars or telescope!  Of course the best time to view will be after 9.

The road to the summit will be closed to all traffic at 6:45, except to those with disabilities. So, you can either hike up, or, TAKE THE FREE SHUTTLE!

Shuttle service between Mount Desert Island High School and the the top of the mountain will begin at 7:30 and run continuously throughout the event.  The last shuttle departs MDI High School at 9:30, and the last will depart the summit at 11:15.  The ride takes about 20 minutes.

The gift shop and restrooms on the mountain will be open.  Folks are encourage to use flashlights with red covering over the lens to preserve the night sky.  No pets or folding chairs are allowed.  In case of rain, call 288-5103 to find out if the event is still on.
