The Brewer and Ellsworth locations are among six Walmart stores in Maine that will be renovated this year.

The other locations include Ellsworth, Augusta, Brunswick, Scarborough, and Sanford. All the locations are scheduled for remodels this year, to improve the customer experience. Those renovations will target the older stores that are in need of a face lift.

A Walmart spokesperson confirmed to us that the remodels will include a variety of changes that will vary depending on the store. Renovations can include wide aisles, shorter shelving, new signage and flooring, redesigned electronics departments with interactive displays, an updated pharmacy area with a new private consultation room, and additional self-checkouts. In addition, there will be upgrades to the cosmetics, home, hardware, auto, baby, and produce departments.

Walmart also plans to expand online grocery ordering and grocery pickup to approximately five additional stores across the state this fiscal year, and to expand their Pickup Tower service to two additional stores in Maine. Those additions will not necessarily be added to the stores being renovated, but their locations will be announced as the expansions take place.
