Another company we’ve known for years is making the change to a greener product. The classic toy company putting their money where their mouth is none other than LEGO.  Still popular after decades in business, last year alone LEGO made 60 million blocks out of the same plastic material the Danish company has been using since 1963. In keeping with the green planet theme of so many business they are planning to spend around 150 million dollars (US) to develop a new sustainable plastic material to produce the legendary blocks.

According to NBC News the new material known as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and is a particularly strong, resilient plastic.

Lego Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen said in the company’s announcement, “This is all part of the company’s continued ambition to leave a positive impact on the planet, which future generations will inherit”

The company has already made some changes to protect the planet by reducing the package size and by introducing Forest Stewardship Council certified packaging.

Now if they could only make one that didn't hurt when you step on them.
