Colorado Fights Thieving Stoners [PHOTO]

Sign thieves have met their match…maybe.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has had some issues after the legalization of pot in the state. It seems a few mile marker signs along interstate 70 have gone missing on several occasions. Mile marker 420 and 69 have had to be replaced constantly. But now thieving stoners and giggity-goos may be less enticed to steal the new signs.

The Colorado Department of Transportation replaced mile marker 420 with a sign that reads ‘MILE 419.99.’ Similar tactics were used for mile 69, the sign now reads ‘MILE 68.5.’ CDOT says mile 419.99 about 25 miles from the Kansas border. Mile 68.5 is located in Cameron Pass in Larimer County.

The number 420 has been long associated with marijuana, although its origins are unclear.
