Crash Clean Up On The Interstate In Bangor Causing Traffic Delays Tuesday
Authorities say they have cleared all the debris from two crashes that occurred on the Interstate in Bangor Tuesday morning.
Maine State Police say the first accident involved a tractor-trailer that went off the road in the Northbound lane near the Hammond Street exit, Exit 183.
According to Department of Public Safety Spokesperson, Shannon Moss, a secondary crash happened when two vehicle collided in traffic caused by the tractor-trailer crash.
"The initial investigation indicates the driver of a tractor trailer was traveling northbound when the vehicle went off the road to the left and struck cables in the median. The tractor trailer operator, 45-year-old Lenin Martinez of Pennsylvania was able to regain control, and crossed both lanes of travel to get to the breakdown lane where he stopped. This action caused traffic to come to a stop behind the tractor trailer, which caused a secondary crash involving two vehicles. One of the vehicles was blocking the right lane of travel at the intersection where I-395 merges to I-95. I-395 traffic was detoured to avoid congestion at the scene of the crash."
Moss says no one was injured in either crash Tuesday, and that they both remain under investigation.
