Last Sunday’s Kennedy Center Honors provided a reunion of sorts for Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones, bandmates in Them Crooked Vultures. While drumming during the Led Zeppelin tribute was a dream come true for Grohl, he says recording with the Zep bassist was an unforgettable experience.

“It was one of the highlights of my life when John Paul Jones said, ‘Now I’ve been in two great bands,’” Grohl told CBS Local. “That was a huge deal for me!”

The supergroup — including Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age — has released just one album, 2009′s self-titled project that included a Grammy award for Best Hard Rock Performance for ‘New Fang.’ Everyone involved has said a follow-up is being planned, but it seems their complicated schedules have prevented that from coming to pass.

“It didn’t happen because everybody went their different ways,” Jones told the Skinny last month. “Josh had another child, so that kept him busy. There’s certainly an intention to do more music together and as soon as all our schedules pan out, that’s what we’ll do. I think we can do that sort of thing pretty quickly.”

NME.com reports that Grohl is currently working on a documentary about the Sound City studio. It will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2013.
