Monday, July 6th, 1957, John Lennon met Paul McCartney for the first time!  Here's how:

17 year-old Lennon had been appearing in a band called The Quarry Men, and while the band was setting up for that night's show at The Woolton Church Parish Fete in Liverpool - 15 year-old McCartney showed up and offered to tune the band's guitars, something that the members had been paying other to do.  McCartney also played Lennon a couple of songs, one being "Be-Bop-A-Lula" originally done by Gene Vincent.  The rest is rock and roll history!

By the way, today's I-95 Artist of the Day are the Beatles!

Also on this date in rock history, the Beatles film 'A Hard Day's Night' premiered at The Pavilion in London!  Girls screamed worldwide.

It was on this date back in 1968 that "Jumpin' Jack Flash" made it's way to the top of the pop charts!  The epitome of a rock song by the "World's Greatest Rock Band" was written while Mick Jagger was staying at Keith Richards' country home.  At one point Jagger heard something outside and asked what the noise was.  Richards took notice that it was the hired gardener and responded, "Oh, that's Jack – that's jumpin' Jack."

Queen released their first single to little fanfare on this date in 1973.  It was "Keep Yourself Alive" and it never made it onto the pop charts.

And finally, taking you way back, William John Clifton Haley was born on this date in 1925. William, who would soon be known world-wide as Bill Haley with his band The Comets, would go on to record and release "Rock Around The Clock!"  The song made it to #1 in 1955 and soon Bill Haley would be called "The first rock n' roll star."
