If I had a nickel for all the conversations I have had through the years as to why is it that we are humane to pets and won’t let them suffer needlessly when there is no chance they will recover from…whatever and yet we will torment a human being endlessly in the name of humanity. So needless to say I was surprised to read that Oregon has a “Death with Dignity Act” that allows apparently, a terminally ill person the right to choose the length of their and their family’s suffering.

You may have seen this on Facebook or YouTube yourself (scroll down for video). A young woman named Brittany Maynard was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumor and has been told by doctors she has about 6 months to live.  With the clear knowledge the brain tumor would take her life would do it in a few short months and would do so very painfully she and her family moved to Portland Oregon where they have in place the 'Death with Dignity Act' and on November 1st surrounded by her loved ones, listening to her favorite music she is going to end her life here and go on to what lies ahead.

Brittany has spent the better part of her life on countless adventures – climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, running in half marathons, and she even spent one year traveling through Southwest Asia.

And now, regarding her decision, she says, “I’m dying, but I’m choosing to suffer less. To put myself through less physical and emotional pain and my family as well.”

Watch her video and tell me if you would what do you think?
