Curiosity killed the cat and now satisfaction costs him money. Have you ever missed a call from a number that you didn’t recognize and called back to find out who it was? Resist the urge and don’t. The reason for being cool? You see, in a new scam criminals have netted a fortune from a phishing. This particular scheme involves unsuspecting victims calling back unknown missed numbers.  Law enforcement has dubbed it the“one-ring phone scam”, a thief dials a number and leaves a missed called.

Many victims who try to return the call are then redirected to an international line and end up paying a $19.95 international call fee.

Authorities warn that the scam may be on the rise as criminals take advantage of our curiosity.
