In years past I have had the fun and excitement of going down to Autumn Gold Weekend.  My favorite events are the chowder cook off, the trips they use to give up the Union River and you know me I love classic cars and they always do such a great job with that show. Of course there are all kinds of activities for the kids too.  The festivities start this Friday. The entire schedule looks like this:

Friday, Sept. 26

  • Autumn Gold Golf Tournament Lucerne Golf Course starting at 9am, registration at 8am. To register call 843-6282
  • Happy Hour Sales Main St. Businesses 4-6pm speacials, food, and fun!
  • Tanglewood Marionettes The Grand, An Arabian Adventure 6pm $10 adults/$5 youth.

Saturday, Sept. 27

  • Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at Ellsworth High School from 7-10 am, cost is $7.00 at the door. Put on by Rotary Club of Ellsworth.
  • All You Can Eat Firehouse Breakfast at the Trenton Volunteer Fire Departmen 59 Oak Point Rd. $7 adults/$3 kids 5-12/ toddlers free. 6 - 10 am.
  • 31st Annual Car Show 8am-1pm Home Depot (Free Admission)Antique and Classic Cars and Trucks, Shriners NASCAR UNIT, Ellsworth Fire Dept., Touch a Truck; Elks Club Food Truck and Chuck Hall food vendor! Busch Grand National Champion Andy Santerre will be there! 
  • Annual City Cruise Immediately following awards ceremony, Classic Cars leave Home Depot and head to Downtown Ellsworth in a grand parade.
  • St. Josephs Craft Fair and Bake Sale 9am - 3pm at St. Josephs Church on Main and High St.
  • Chowder Fest 11:30-1:30 Waterfront Park  Local Chefs compete for the Clam Chowder and Open Chowder trophies! Celebrity judges include Brooke Dojny and Craig Colson and our own Bob Merrill. Music with Bobbi Lane! And much more!.
  • Scenic Boat Rides Union River Free at Water Front Park at 11a
  • Rubber Ducky Race Waterfront at 2pm, tickets available at waterfront.
  • Mill Mall Family Activities: 9am-3pm  Hay rides, Games, MCMH Teddy Bear Clinic, Caricature Artist, Juggler, crafters, food, Sleepers Fashion Show, and more!
  • Jumbo Jackpot Drawing $5000.00! Tickets available thru the Chamber of Commerce.  $5.00 Each or 5 for $20.00 Drawing held at The Mill Mall at 3pm LIVE!
  • Downtown Businesses Side Walk Sales Check out Ellsworth's Main Street for sidewalk sales and specials all weekend. Watch the City Cruise go by!
  • Maine Author's Day Unior River Book and Toy 12-4 
  • Puppet Making Workshop The Grand 1pm ages 4-6 (with parent) 2pm ages 7-12 $15.00 admission includes show on Sunday 
  • Film Poster Sale The Grand  from 11am - 3pm. Come peruse hundreds of posters from past Grand film screenings in The Grand lobby.
  • TEMPO Concert: The Best of TEMPO 6pm $9 adults/$5 youth (12 & under) General admission. 
  • Go for the Gold  Entry Boxes In Many Ellsworth Area Businesses! 1st Prize $500.00 Chamber Bucks, 2nd Prize $300.00 Chamber Bucks, 3rd Prize $200.00 Chamber Bucks 
  • Autumn Gold Decorating Contest Area businesses are encouraged to enter their storefront in the Autumn Gold Decorating Contest! Judging will take place during Autumn Gold week.  Winners will be announced at the Autumn Gold Business After Hours at the Grand Auditorium Thursday September 25 5-7pm
  • Look for the Flags! Autumn Gold Flags mean participating businesses, whether it’s a promotion or a sale or an open house or sign up for Go for the Gold!

Sunday, Sept. 28

Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers: The Legend of the Banana Kid  at 1pm at The Grand  $10.00 adults/$5 youth 12 and under.
