It's Springtime in Maine, and with that comes the potential for rivers and streams to spill over their banks. The National Weather service has issued flood watches for several communities, including a danger of the Penobscot overflowing in Eddington.

Wind-swept rains are expected to pummel the state tonight, into tomorrow and that has emergency management officials keeping a watchful eye on Maine’s rivers and streams as many are already just below, or near their flood stage.

The National Weather Service has posted a flood warning for the Big Black River in Aroostook County and a flood warning for the Penobscot River near Eddington.

According to the National Weather Service the Penobscot's flood stage is 18 feet and it could continue to rise through Thursday to over 20 feet.
