It's always a nice sentiment when a company you love and support, through thick and thin, decides to show its appreciation for that support with a discount or a special sale for its customers.

It's even cooler (literally) when they decide to show their appreciation by giving away free stuff, especially when that stuff is ice cream!

That's just what Maine favorite Gifford's Ice Cream is going to do later this week.

Thursday, April 18th is National Customer Appreciation Day.  To mark the occasion, but also to thank customers for sticking with them after the devastating production plant fire last year, Gifford’s 3 family-owned stands in Bangor, Skowhegan & Waterville will be scooping and serving up free cones from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

According to one spokesperson, you can stop by any of those three stands and enjoy some ice cream, free of charge.

"Customers are invited to indulge in one complimentary scoop of Gifford’s signature ice cream at its three participating family-owned ice cream stands. This year’s Free Cone Night holds special significance as Gifford’s Ice Cream acknowledges the support of its cherished customers throughout the challenges of the past year. It’s a gesture from the Gifford’s family to express gratitude for the community’s loyalty. "
