From Kittery to Fort Kent, Rumford to Eastport, this Saturday and Sunday it’s the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend!

We have enough snow on the ground and it's certainly been cold enough to enjoy anything that winter has to offer!  Activities like skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, ice skating, even snowman building are all on the menu for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 3rd – 5th. The Maine Outdoor Coalition coordinates the event!

“The weekend is a huge effort to get as many Mainers outside and connected to the great outdoors as possible” says Kaitlyn Bernard of the Appalachian Mountain Club, one of the members of the planning team. Since 2012, the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend (GMOW) has held over 1,000 events across the state and reached more than 66,000 participants during the biannual celebrations in September and February."

Many of this weekend's events are free, and also provide lessons and equipment!

It's Moosestompers Weekend in Houlton, there's a forest walk in Boothbay Harbor, Project Wild in Holden, a ski adventure in Greenville, you can snowshoe the Simon Trail in Lamoine, and cross country ski on the Downeast Sunrise Trail in Ellsworth!  There a WHOLE BUNCH  of activities planned!  Check out a full listing of events at the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend's site!
