We asked you all to submit your stories about personal experiences you've had with ghosts. Turns out, a lot of you have had some unexplained encounters of all kinds.

Here are some of our favorites so far. But remember: There's still time to submit your story. If we select yours, the East Coast Ghost Trackers will investigate your situation. You don't get that opportunity very often.

Also if you submit your story before Oct. 7, you could win two passes to the sold-out Halloween ghost tour at Fort Knox in Prospect on Sat., Oct. 10.

Okay. Back to our favorite submissions so far.

    Ghost's Best Friend

Submitted by Anne Marie of Bangor

There is a ghost and his dog that live in my house. He turns on my TV and sometimes the radio. He will call to me by name when I am alone in the house. He hides stuff on me all the time. I ask him to bring it back and sometimes he does. He has had my remote for 2 years now. That's how he probably turns on my TV. LOL. He has opened my door a couple of times. I see his shadow walking down the hall. When I do something he doesn't like he throws things. One night he took a glass chamber pot and put it on the floor across the room. He likes jewelry. He moves stuff around. He warns us when things aren't quite right. He plays music that we can't figure out where it comes from.

On Our Own, But Not Alone

    Submitted by Heather of Bangor

My boyfriend and I moved into our apartment one year and three months ago. We have been together for just under six years and we are so excited to be out on our own! Moving can be super stressful but it makes it that much harder when you have things disappearing and moving on you. We got into our home and got it all set up just about. We still had things to unpack and what not. The way our apartment is set up is our living room is over the garage and our bedroom is like the attic of the house just remodeled. The first couple of nights in our home we slept downstairs because we hadn't set up our bedroom but about a week in and we were upstairs. For weeks I had a hard time getting to sleep, telling myself it was because it was new to me, but whenever I went to bed I had this feeling about a corner of the room. I had to be facing the corner in order to fall asleep. At one point I had to put a stand there with a fan just so the corner was being used. We decided we needed to move things around and ever since the bed is in the corner now I don't have a problem. Next we noticed things were being moved and actually getting lost. I'm a big bottle person. I have this weird thing about drinking out of glass cups so I use a bottle. One night while watching TV, I went to reach for my bottle and it wasn't there. We stopped the show we were watching and searched everywhere for the thing and to this day still having found it! I had it one minute right next to me and the, boom, gone. Many things have been moved and will come up a few days later. I also always get this feeling like I'm not alone, like someone is standing in the room with me or in a window, but we are on the second floor! I don't like spending time here alone at night and we never watch scary movies in the house since we moved in! We just recently got a dog and he sometimes acts a little strange. He will go to a certain area in living room and just stare, he will wake right up and get down and whine, and I've taken pictures with him and I and he is clearly looking at something and his lip is curled. I believe someone is here with us, I don't think I need to worry but it would be nice to know I'm not crazy!

    Little Ghost Girl

    Submitted by Cynthia of Bangor

I moved in this house in 1995. At first you could hear the doors open and close. Then as it progressed the TV or music would play. When I went away for a couple of days, I'd come home to everything on -- lights included. I spoke to other people that lived here before and they told me some one would try to push the men down the stairs. Even my neighbor said she saw a little girl in the window. Now that I live alone, I do not hear anything. I once was told a little girl was murdered in this house.

    Spooky Silver Spoons

Submitted by Honey Rae of Carmel

We moved into our house in March of 2015 and i thought the old house we use to live in had spirits in it but i guess they are connected me to. I find old silver spoon in the most random spots -- on the washer, on the stairs even in my bed. I hear kids running up and down my front stair case & just this morning i found all my cupboards opened up and i know i shut them all last night after doing dishes and putting canned goods away. I even hear moving of furniture moving and a rocking chair rocking. It could be weeks in between finding spoons but the sounds and the presence of spirits in my home is a every day thing. My oldest son has even reported seeing and hearing things in our home. He tells me he isn't scared by it. He feels more protected. My husband has heard things but he always dismissed them to something our kids was doing. I feel I am meant to find these spoons and until i f ind the reason behind them I will continue to collect them.

  • Haunted Carmel Woods

    Submitted by Erika of Carmel

Let me just start by saying my family and I have had many different experiences in different places. My mother has always said we were more open to the supernatural, or that spirits were more drawn to us. Whatever it is, I’ve been scared out of mind more times then I’d like to remember.
I grew up in Carmel, Maine. There wasn’t a lot to do, so many days and night were spent outside or in the woods. There were countless nights of playing basketball in the driveway until the wee hours of the morning. There were a few different nights that my mother and I, or my friends and I, would be outside when we heard a woman let out a blood curdling scream from deep in the woods. My dad tried telling us we probably heard some animal, but I know a rabbit, a bobcat, and most animal sounds. It was the sound of a woman.
My mom grew up in the house next door, she would tell us rumors of the Portland mob burying people in the woods behind our house. You can walk around and see the old mounds of buried livestock from past farms.
One late summer night around 10 years ago, a friend and I got tired of playing basketball and decided to walk to my treehouse about 100 yards into the woods at around 1 a.m. We climbed up the 30 ft. high ladder that lead to the treehouse my dad had built, and sat in total darkness. Like I said, there wasn’t a whole lot to do in that town. Out of nowhere I heard that blood curdling scream again from deep in the woods. I sat there freaking out while my friend said he didn’t hear it. I’m sure if he could have seen my face, he may have believed me. I was terrified beyond belief and started scrambling to leave, until I heard someone walking over the leaves down below, right towards us. I froze in utter terror. That was no four-legged animal. It was a person walking slowly and heavily towards us. I whispered in my lowest breath to my friend. Something along the lines of “Do you hear that? What is that?” My body was shaking as I heard it come closer to the bottom of the ladder. He put his arms around me and asked in his regular volume voice what was wrong and why was I shaking? He couldn’t hear the steps that had stopped right under the treehouse! I couldn’t believe it!! I just remember sitting there with him holding me for what felt like hours. I couldn’t move. Finally I convinced myself to leave the treehouse and run up the path to my house. I have never entered those woods in the dark since and never have I gotten in the treehouse after that experience.
To this day, my mother still hears unexplained things around her house and in the woods. Her dog reacts to the occurrences as well. My parents have since set up game cams to try and figure out what is going on.

    Old Bean Factory

    Submitted by Kylee of Vassalboro

This old bean factory is totally haunted. At night, you can sometimes hear a girl scream inside. Lights go on and off. If yo go down to the cellar, you hear things being dropped on the floors above. You can hear people walking on the next floor above you. Super dark, dingy and creepy.
