If you've been near the Bangor Mall in recent weeks, you've likely seen the ongoing construction across Stillwater Avenue near Kohl's.

The 9,440-square-foot building currently under construction is the second phase of adjacent property "The Avenue."

The application proposes three uses for the new space: a 3,480-square-foot dental office , a 3,000-square-foot Select Comfort -- that's the parent company of Sleep Number -- and a 2,960-square-foot restaurant, according to David Gould, the city's planning officer.

There's no word on which restaurant will occupy the space, but it is not designed to include a drive-through.

The project also will include improvements to the intersection, Gould said.

The Avenue currently includes a Subway, Supercuts, Verizon, Edible Arrangements and other stores.

When constructed in the 1980s, The Avenue was designed in three phases. The first phase was the existing building. The second phase is the site of the current construction. The third phase would be constructed in the lot behind "The Avenue."

There's no word on whether the property's new developer, Michigan-based Alrig USA LLC, plans to develop the third phase.
