Just cause summer has left us in the dust doesn’t mean fair season has passed. In fact one of the oldest agricultural fairs kicks of this Sunday. According to the Fryeburg Fair Association, the 2015 Fryeburg, Maine Fair schedule runs from Sunday, October 4th through the Sunday, October 11th.

This fair is 150 years in the running and boasts 180 acre fairgrounds with over 3,000 horses, goats, llamas, poultry, rabbits, sheep swine, oxen and steer making it the largest agricultural fair in Maine and one of the most notable agricultural events in North America.

However, today's exhibitors at the Fryeburg Fair in Maine are accompanied by much more than a few cows and some simple crafts. Other attractions include:

  • A juried craftsman and artists show and sale with a varied assortment of baskets, jewelry, woodwork, candles, sculpted metal, paintings, and beautiful glass creations.
  • Free entertainment with five stages for live entertainment
  • Fiber Center and Natural Resource Center
  • Milking Parlor, the Swine Barn
  • History Hall, the Farm Museum,
  • Horse Drawn Wagon Display
  • Midway (and an additional Children's Midway), filled with plenty of rides and games -
  • Fried clams, Maine lobster and Maine blueberry cobbler
  • harness racing
  • Woodsmen Day when contestants compete for a prize in chain sawing, tree falling, buck sawing, and wood chopping
  • And there is more…
