The World Will Visit Bar Harbor on Wednesday, Rockland on Thursday

The World is the only private residential community at sea. Whoever named this mammoth yacht must have been a Star Trek fan, because that’s the first thing that comes to my mind when I picture a giant floating vessel with 130 families on board going perpetually from port to port.The World is 644 feet from stern to bow and 12 decks high and along with the 130 familes and their guests they enjoy 165 luxury condos and all that goes along with them, including four top of the line restaurants.
Launched back in 2002 this floating country club has visited 800 ports in 140 countries, and plans to be in Eastport today, arriving in Bar Harbor around 8 a.m., Thursday and then showing up in Rockland around 1 p.m., Friday. Of course each city and town plans to show much hospitality as passengers disembark to enjoy what our area has to offer and enhance our economy!
