What If You Could Pick Your Family?
You’ve always heard you can pick your seat but you can’t pick your relatives but…what if you could??
According to a new survey by Findmypast.com, the Obamas are the celebrity family that Americans would most like to be related to. Forty-one percent of respondents picked the first family, followed by the Bush family, which received 23 percent of the vote.
What I found most strange/interesting is that, the Obama and Bush families are actually related. According to Findmypast.com, Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush share a common ancestor from Massachusetts in the 1600s, Samuel Hinckley.
I guess I’d fall into the 21 percent category of respondents would like to be related to the British royal family, the Windsors, but not the eight percent expressed a desire to be related to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Angie and dad Jon’s drama would wear on me.
A paltry three percent of survey participants would like to be related to another Hollywood couple, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
On the flipside, when asked to pick the family they’d least like to be related to, a majority of the voters -– 61 percent -- named the Kardashian clan. Ditto.
When asked which famous family in history they’d most like to be related to, respondents went for the money and picked the Rockefellers, the Astors and the Kennedys.
The Findmypast.com survey was conducted online with submissions from 441 findmypast.com users aged 18-65 in 39 states. The average respondent age was 29. Cool.
