The Washington Post has answered what a lot of Maine beach goers have wondered. What is beyond the horizon? I always thought it was the United Kingdom. Turns out you have to go beyond the Maine coastline into Canada to be about the same latitude!

So what is across from Maine? According to the map, Maine beaches share about the same latitude as Milan, Italy.

There you have it. When sitting on the beach in Maine, you're soaking up the sun over 3,000 miles across from someone in a speedo and sipping wine.
