A Skowhegan man is facing charges for allegedly shooting two people in Augusta, one fatally.
Skowhegan, Maine Man Arrested for a Fatal Shooting in Augusta
Edward Longley, 30, of Skowhegan is charged with murder and elevated aggravated assault in connection with an incident on Flagg Street in Augusta on February 2, 2026.
The victims have been identified as Billyjack Curtis, 51, of Augusta, and Sherry Gilley, 40, of Brunswick.
Curtis was killed, while Gilley hospitalized.

Augusta Police were called to the location on Flagg Street just after 11 pm on February 2nd, and found two victims.
An autopsy on Curtis's body determined that he had died of gunshot wounds and his manner of death was ruled a homicide. Gilley was severely injured during the shooting.
She was initially transported to MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Gilley was released from the hospital and is now recovering from her injuries.
The Motive for a Fatal Shooting in Augusta, Maine Has Yet to Be Released
Longley was taken to the Somerset County Jail where he's being held without bail.
The police have not commented on a motive for the shooting.
